Project 2 Proposal

I plan on using question number 3 on page 171 as my foundation of my essay. I found Barthes essay a little less confusing when compared to Berger's essay. Barthes smoothly transitioned his ideas, and it was an overall better read. I plan to focus mainly on the studium and the punctum of my photographs. I also want to reread it again to try and find some terms I may have left out the first time.

As of right now I plan on using the pictures at www.newseum.org/mississippi/ as my set of pictures. They are over the Civil Rights Movement.

I chose the same question for Project two. I think Berger was confusing too. I suggest you focus on all of his Latin terms, that is what I plan to do. Are you going to use the Civil Rights Movement pictures as a theme of the paper? That might be good to have related pictures.

Good start. I think you have a good idea of what you plan on writing about. I think it is a good idea that you have to relate all of your pictures so you have a single topic you are talking about. I think you will be well on your way as soon as you find your pictures.

I think there needs to be a little more explaination of what the question is asking you to do. How exactly are you going to develop your writing? You have a good reason why you choose this question to write over.

hey michael,
its always good to have a better understanding of one of the men better..that makes choosing an option easier. i wouldn't just focus on the studium and punctum though...bc that could get a little boring. but rereading his section is a good idea! Lisa

I chose the same one, and it seems to be a pretty good one to write over.
